Strata - Earth Memories

This body of work was prompted by an open exhibition that called for sustainable art.

My medium of choice had been acrylic for the last several years, initially for its practicality. The more time I invested in learning the medium and how to maximise it, the more difficult it became to move away from it. But the exhibition indicated it was about time for me to become a more environmentally aware artist.

The alternative medium I chose was powder pigments and fish skin gelatine. Largely because of unfamiliality with the medium, I struggle to layer the paint as per my usual process - hence collages using thin tissues and tapioca glue.
